NEPA MINERS MAKE THE OFFICE

NEPA MINERS MINI HELMET NEPA Miners football has become famous as the Miners mini football helmet was a prop on NBC’s hit TV show the Office which is based out of Scranton. Twenty-three minutes into the 2008 season premier, NEPA Miners team president fell off of his couch as the NEPA Miners mini-helmet was revealed on Kevin’s desk as Andy and Angela walked away. (After the Miners coaching staff broke down the film a second time, the Miners mini-helmet was filmed twice last night! Our fans & members can view the helmet on the hulu video player on the Miners main page at about the 5:08 and 18:00 minute mark). The NEPA Miners organization works hard year round and is very active in the community. The Miners do community service, fundraisers, youth football camps and even “The Office” festivities in Scranton. This off season Coach LaMagna dropped off the NEPA Miners mini football helmet along with some game day programs, t-shirts and hats at a Scranton Chamber of Commerce Office pick up. The Scranton Chamber would then send all the business props to the set of the Office. This season the Miners scored big and made the season premier! It seems to be a...

Mental toughness training for Football

By Jeremy Conn Dealing with Adversity. Adversity, it happens in life and in sports. Wherever, whenever, you need to do your best to deal with it. One method is to be prepared for it, anticipate it. You should never be surprised by adversity. Because as we all know, “stuff” happens!” So deal with it. Easily said. But how do we deal with it? Being part of a true team helps. A real team will realize that they and the individuals on the team cannot be perfect. However we will all work together to support each other when we are down and cheer each other on when we are up. CP: May need to ensure athletes know what the word “adversity” means (no joke) CP: “Facts” to share – every day 7 minor pieces of adversity will hit you that could throw you off your goals. Every year 3 major pieces of adversity will shake your very roots!!! Dealing with your coaches It is the coaches’ job to teach you the skills, techniques, and strategy of the game. We are also responsible to motivate you, in the game, but also in life. In the game most coaches will be upset at you when you make a mistake....

What we are

Posted on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 by jumba92
Its that time again when every minor league team in America start believing that they have what it takes to win it all.  We think that this is the season where the wrongs of the previous season is now righted, but reality usually set in after the first month of the season, and at that point, we are trying to "just get through it". This is going to be the difference with the NEPA Miners this season.  This is our year. For years, we face teams that we know we should have beaten, only to watch that team advance in the postseason as we watch them because our season already ended.  The window is closing for most of us, and I have grown tired of our off season conversations consisting of "ifs". Our season last year basically came down to 6 plays that would have made us undefeated, so as we continue to get stronger and our coaches continue to better their knowledge for this game, there is an element missing that can, and will be the difference. The missing part is called "TEAM". That word makes the less talented defeat the more talented. Thats a word that is the...

Come Party w/ the Miners!

Posted on Sunday, January 13, 2008 by Daniel Lamagna
Join the NEPA Miners Friday January 18th for a night of fun and food. The Miners will be having a fundraiser at Chicago UNO Grill in Dickson City. A portion of the proceeds from the night will be donated to the Miners to send our coaches to various coaching clinics throughout the region. Our coaches work hard all year round to help put the best football team on the field. All you have to do is come and have a meal or a few drinks and make sure you get your receipt stamped with the Miners certificate, which will be available at the restaurant. NEPA Miners members will be at UNO Grill from about 4:30 until the last person leaves and Chicago UNO Grill employees will be sporting the NEPA Miners Jerseys. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you out on Friday!...

2008 NEPA Miners

Posted on Sunday, December 9, 2007 by Daniel Lamagna
Keep up to date with all the upcoming news for the NEPA Miners 2008 season on our website. We have already accomplished a lot since our season ended. While some teams put it on cruise control until the New Year, the Miners have been focusing daily on improving all areas of our organization. We started with management and have added a Vice President of Development and Public Releations Carmon Flynn who has already began developing a sales team, booster club and is working on many projects to advance operations of the ball club. New coaches have been interviewed and are being recruited while the current staff is getting ready for coaching clinics and a mad push to further recruit and develop the talent of our organization. We hosted a pro tryout for the All-American Football League and brought many talented prospects to our area. This was the only AAFL tryout in the state of Pennsylvania. We also had some new local talent tryout for the Miners that we look forward to see play for the team in 2008. We have also had many interested prospects contact the team and hope to see them...
