NEPA Miners 2nd Annual Charlie Wysocki Camp

The NEPA Miners 2nd Annual Charlie Wysocki Camp will be held May 31st at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton. Coach Charlie Wysocki is entering his fourth year as part of Coach LaMagna’s coaching staff. Charlie was an All-State football player and wrestler at Wilkes-Barre Myers before attending the University of Maryland and becoming there second all-time leading rusher. Charlie had a serious ankle injury his senior year which dropped his stock on draft day. Charlie would receive several free agent offers before accepting a free agent invite with the Dallas Cowboys. During his time in camp with the Cowboys Charlie spoke with legendary Head Coach Tom Landry about not feeling well. This would be the end of his football career as Charlie was stricken with bipolar disorder. Charlie’s life has been full of ups and downs as he continues to battle this illness. The NEPA Miners are a major supporter of Charlie and on May 31st will raise money for the Charlie Wysocki Foundation started to raise awareness of and help those with bipolar disorder. Miners Recruiting Local Talent

The NEPA Miners Football and Entertainment Team are recruiting new talent from the Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding areas. A picture similar to the one attached with this article can be found inside the Steamtown Mall in Scranton as four signs are distributed throughout the Mall. The Miners organization also is advertising in the Electric City Newspaper and team president Dan LaMagna recently had speaking engagements recruiting for the 2008 NEPA Miners. The future looks bright for a team coming off an 8-4 season with many new recruits in camp but the competition has also picked up with the new move to the Regional American Football League (RAFL). The Miners coaching staff will be recruiting heavy for the next month but are able to sign players up until the 6th week of the regular season. Behind every good man is a great woman and the Miners Girls Entertainment team is recruiting as well. With many of the girls helping last years coach and intern Angela Scrobek, many girls are still needed for 2008. NEPA Miners Open Camp

The NEPA Miners had a solid tryout/combine and have some nice prospects going into camp such as athlete Rex Harris from Wilkes University, DB Craig Haywood from Kings, WR Josh Steely from Rowan and RB Mahmoud Elbattah from Millersville just to name a few. These prospects and many more have joined our veteran players to help improve a strong 8-4 inaugural season. The Miners followed up an impressive combine in Scranton at Riverfront Sports with a solid first week of camp and expect to be in pads by mid-May. The Miners first game is June 28th @ the Schuylkill County Coal Crackers for the second annual Anthracite Classic and our home opener is at Scranton Memorial Stadium July 12th versus the Hudson Valley Cowboys. The Miners will be recruiting players throughout camp to compete for positions and put the best 53 players on the field come June 28th. NEPA Miners Ready to Practice

The NEPA Miners tryout/combine at Riverfront Sports in Scranton Saturday, left coaches feeling positive going into their first week of practice.  Many new faces were in attendance which shows fast growth in year two of our hometown team.  The tryout was hosted by F.A.S.S.T. and Visions Fitness in which almost 50 athletes participated.  The Miners will now begin camp this Tuesday at Clover Field in South Scranton from April 15th to May 1st before returning to the South Side Complex on May 6th.  The Miners are still recruiting and welcome athletes to tryout at a regular Miners practice.  The Miners will hold camp until mid-May before putting on the pads and preparing for the second annual Anthricite Classic versus the Schuykill County Coal Crackers of the Colonial Football Alliance. The Miners won last years game 44-14, this was also the first win in the history of the Miners franchise. The Miners will practice at Clover Field April 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and May 1st before returning to the South Side Complex May 6th. NEPA Miners Football and Entertainment Team Tryouts Set!

The NEPA Miners Football and Entertainment Team are gearing up for their 2008 Season of Scranton Football and community service all over NEPA.  Gentlemen, the Miners final football tryout/combine is scheduled for this Saturday April 12th at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton. Registration is at 9:30am with the tryout/combine running from 10am-1pm. There is a $30 fee for new members and it is free to returning members who finished 2007 in good standing and athletes who attended our AAFL Tryout.  The Combine is run by F.A.S.S.T. and the active stretch by Visions Fitness, all athletes attending will receive a NIKE SPARQ rating. The Miners are seeking local athletes to join our 2007 squad in making 2008 a RAFL championship season!   Ladies, Join us as we audition individuals to be part of one of the hottest and most exciting aspects of the game- the Miners Girls Entertainment Team! The NEPA Miners Football and Entertainment team proudly represents Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazelton, the Poconos and all of North Eastern Pennsylvania.  In our efforts to gain new members and provide more community service to our great region, we are launching the NEPA Miners Booster Club.  The club is being formed as a non-profit organization and consists of players, coaches, cheerleaders, management, fans, friends and supporters.  The NEPA Miners Booster Club holds monthly meetings at the Scranton Hilton Hotel and Convention Center and is recruiting new members to support the Miners and help give back to the community.  Keep checking back to find out when our next meeting is and for more exciting community events from the NEPA Miners Booster Club. Please attend our next meeting at the Scranton Hilton to join, GO MINERS!...

Showtime for the Miners Girls!

The NEPA Miners are gearing up for their 2008 Season. Join us as we audition individuals to be part of one of the hottest and most exciting aspects of the game- the Miners Girls Entertainment Team! The Entertainment team tryouts will be held on Saturday April 19th, 2008 from 3pm – 5pm at UNO Fitness in Scranton. Must be 18 years old to tryout.  Registration begins at 2:30pm and tryouts will start at 3pm sharp. Please bring a head shot (does not need to be professionally done) for us to keep and $20 for the application fee. Dance Attire & Appearance for Tryouts: -Make-up should be attractive -Come in a Warm up suit -Hair must be attractive – Worn Down -Crop top/sports bra (Be Creative!) -Boy shorts/Hot Pants -Shoes (dance sneakers, jazz sneakers or shoes) During the day of auditions dancers will be put into small groups where they will learn a chant, cheer, and a dance. Tumbling is not mandatory but extra points will be awarded if you can tumble. Judging will be based on poise, showmanship, dance and cheer technique, personality, jumps, and personal appearance.  The Miners Girls Entertainment team is very important to our organizations efforts to entertain our fans and give back to our community....

NEPA Miners Players Update

For our fans that are waiting for the NEPA Miners Home Opener at Scranton Memorial Stadium on July 12th, we still have a good four months until kickoff, but training camp is right around the corner.  Miners Football will host one more tryout/combine at the Riverfront Sports Complex on April 12th to find more hidden talent from Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazelton and football players from all over North Eastern Pennsylvania.  At the same time returning members from the Miners inaugural 8-4 season will begin there quest for a 2008 national championship.  The off season has been a good one as the coaching staff is looking to expand; the official staff will be named in the upcoming weeks.  Minor League veteran Lineman Robert Rae and Receiver Jermaine Bolden look to add leadership while newcomers Joe Polacek TE, Steven Lackey OL, Sam Parlopiano WR, Robert Toner FB and Joshua Steeley WR who attended the AAFL tryout look to boost the Miners West Coast Offense.  Former Scranton Eagle Kyle Popish is coming on board to bolster an already fierce Thunder 3 Defense led by sack master Malcolm Singleton who wants to repeat last season's record setting season.  Eddie Meehan OL, Matt Pfancook WR and Tim Krauth LB are rehabbing from injuries and are hoping to recover...

MINERS Announce New Partnership with F.A.S.S.T. Performance By Design

The North East PA Miners Football Organization is always looking to find a competitive edge and just lit up the scoreboard again at Scranton Memorial Stadium.  The team is excited to announce a partnership with Jason Braider and his company F.A.S.S.T. (Functional, Athletic, Speed, Strength and Training). Jason is a former Division III All-American running Back who has trained many college All-Americans and PRO athletes.  "We pride ourselves in offering our players the best football experience around and this is another step in taking our game to the next level." said Head Coach Dan LaMagna. "Jason is an intense competitor and the guys will enjoy working with him and his company."   Jason and F.A.S.S.T. have trained athletes such as the Dallas Cowboys Antonio Bryant and the San Francisco 49ers Kevin Barlow to name a couple.   F.A.S.S.T is a private, members only training center dedicated to the serious athlete. NEPA Miners trainer Joy DeSoto from Visions Personal Fitness Training will be on hand to warm up the athletes.  The Miners  final tryout & combine is scheduled for Saturday April 12th at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton. NEPA Miners Team Event @ Chicago UNO Grill

Join the NEPA Miners Friday March 28th for a night of fun and food. The Miners will be having a fundraiser at Chicago UNO Grill in Dickson City. A portion of the proceeds from the night will be donated to the Miners to help raise funds for the players and entertainment team’s warm up gear. Our members work hard all year round to help put the best football team on the field and entertain our fans on game day and in the community. All you have to do is come and have a meal or a few drinks and make sure you get your receipt stamped with the Miners certificate, which will be available at the restaurant with Miners members. If you can’t stay, order take out and see us for a voucher. NEPA Miners members will be at UNO Grill from about 4:30 until the last person leaves and Chicago UNO Grill employees will be sporting the NEPA Miners Jerseys. Northeast Pennsylvania Football
The North East Pennsylvania (NEPA) Miners are a minor league football team bringing a first of its kind football league to North Eastern Pennsylvania that will set the Miners apart from their competitors. While the Miners represent all of North East Pennsylvania, their basis of operations is the Poconos, encompassing the areas of Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. The Miners play in the Regional Atlantic Football League (RAFL) with home games at the area’s finest facilities.
The Miners’ goal is to serve the people of North East Pennsylvania with year-round community service while providing superior customer service and quality family entertainment on Saturday nights during the football season.
