What we are
Its that time again when every minor league team in America start believing that they have what it takes to win it all. We think that this is the season where the wrongs of the previous season is now righted, but reality usually set in after the first month of the season, and at that point, we are trying to “just get through it”. This is going to be the difference with the NEPA Miners this season. This is our year. For years, we face teams that we know we should have beaten, only to watch that team advance in the postseason as we watch them because our season already ended. The window is closing for most of us, and I have grown tired of our off season conversations consisting of “ifs”. Our season last year basically came down to 6 plays that would have made us undefeated, so as we continue to get stronger and our coaches continue to better their knowledge for this game, there is an element missing that can, and will be the difference. The missing part is called “TEAM”. That word makes the less talented defeat the more talented. Thats a word that is the strongest in sports. TEAM is the difference between talking about what we could have did, to what we actually did. TEAM usually shows up when the chips are down, and nothing has gone your way all game, and it feels like what we are doing is wrong. TEAM lets us know that as long as we are going into the battle together, we will overcome any obstacle. This TEAM will be strong this season, we have no other option. This TEAM will accept all coaching from our coaches, whether we agree or not. We will practice as a TEAM, we will play as a TEAM, and we will win as a TEAM.  We have been successful; we have been close, we have won games, but when we can do these things as a TEAM, we can add “Champions” to our lists of accomplishments.
I promise our fans, coaches, my TEAMmates, and Miners’ family that on Saturday nights, the Miners will give the definition of what a TEAM looks like. We will walk onto the field arm in arm to signify that we are together. We will play the game as one. And when we win, it will be because we did it for the man to our left and our right. The Miners will be around long after our playing days are over, and what we do now as a TEAM will be remembered for a lifetime. We are blessed with the ability to play this game. We are blessed to be strong enough to compete at this level. Kids look up to us, not just for what we can do on the field, but because they want to be blessed enough to play this game when they get older. I love this game, as much as I love this TEAM, and with 55 members strong, Our TEAM will be champions, together…..
