NEPA Miners 2nd Annual Charlie Wysocki Camp

charlies_wysocki.jpgThe NEPA Miners 2nd Annual Charlie Wysocki Camp will be held May 31st at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton. Coach Charlie Wysocki is entering his fourth year as part of Coach LaMagna’s coaching staff. Charlie was an All-State football player and wrestler at Wilkes-Barre Myers before attending the University of Maryland and becoming there second all-time leading rusher. Charlie had a serious ankle injury his senior year which dropped his stock on draft day. Charlie would receive several free agent offers before accepting a free agent invite with the Dallas Cowboys. During his time in camp with the Cowboys Charlie spoke with legendary Head Coach Tom Landry about not feeling well. This would be the end of his football career as Charlie was stricken with bipolar disorder. Charlie’s life has been full of ups and downs as he continues to battle this illness. The NEPA Miners are a major supporter of Charlie and on May 31st will raise money for the Charlie Wysocki Foundation started to raise awareness of and help those with bipolar disorder. The camp will be open to the public and is $5 for children 12 and under. The children will participate with NEPA Miners coaches, players and entertainment team members while being entertained by game night entertainer Buttons the Clown. Venders can promote their products and support our event for $100 per table. All proceeds from the camp will benefit the Charlie Wysocki Foundation. NEPA Miners members will also be signing autographs and hold a workout for the public. The Miners Girls Entertainment team will also have an open tryout as part of the camp. More information will be posted on the Miners web site before the event and also at http://charliewysocki.com/which is coming soon.
