NEPA Miners begin Road Trip!

NAFL Championship

NAFL Playoffs

The North East PA Miners are preparing for a six game road trip with the final game in Las Vegas. But they know they can not look past round one as it is win or go home. The NAFL kicks off its 2007 National Tournament this Saturday night with the Championship game being played November 10th in Las Vegas. The NEPA Miners (8-3) are the 6th seed in the Atlantic Region and will travel to Richland, New Jersey to face the 2nd seeded South Jersey Lynx who are 9-0-1. The Miners are primed for a battle as the Lynx are a perennial playoff team. The Miners coaching staff is preparing for a Lynx defense with a strong front seven and an athletic secondary and a offense with two strong Quarterbacks and lots of speed and size. The NEPA Miners have plenty of speed and size of their own. Defensive Lineman Chris Hoover from Old Forge has given the Miners a boost in the running game since moving to full back to lead their tailback trio of Donnie Jackson-Bey, Damon Saxon and Andre Chollete. Kings graduates John Solano and Mike Collins have been making big plays along with Defensive End Malcolm Singleton who leads the league with 20 sacks. The NEPA Miners are 2-0 in games versus Metro Division opponents and will fight to keep that unbeaten streak alive. The Miners can get a future home game if there are some upsets in the bracket but have taken on a road warrior mentality and are prepared to travel. The NEPA Miners are battle tested having gone 5-3 in a very strong PA Division. The Tournament breaths new life into all playoff teams as everybody is undefeated; the Miners hope their first year experience takes them deep into the post season.
