The NEPA Miners have completed their first regular season of minor league football. After an 8-3 inaugural season, the Miners will practice this week to correct any mistakes seen on film as they await their first round opponent. Some North American Football League (NAFL) teams are still playing this weekend to determine who gets the final playoff spots. The Miners won their last two regular season games to build momentum into their first post season. It will take five wins to play in the championship game in Las Vegas. Coach LaMagna likes his teams’ odds in the tournament, “We are getting better every week, and the players know if they play together they can accomplish anything.” “If we get hot at the right time, look out!” The NEPA Miners have the experience to make a run as they have an experienced coaching staff and many minor league football veterans to lead the way. Minor League Football’s All-Time leading rusher Donnie Jackson-Bey looks like he is on a mission after rushing for 124 yards off of a mere 14 carries in last weekends game. Malcolm Singleton added 4 ½ sacks to bring his season total to an impressive twenty sacks. Two Interceptions by an improving secondary, strong line play on both sides and Jovan Garcia sparking the special teams units has the Miners feeling confident. The NAFL tournament is similar to the NCAA play-offs in that the top 64 teams in the nation square off in a single elimination winner takes all tournament.

While the Miners represent all of North East Pennsylvania, their basis of operations is the Poconos, encompassing the areas of Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. The Miners play in the Regional Atlantic Football League (RAFL) with home games at the area’s finest facilities.
