NEPA Miners Support Be Positive Day 03/01/08
The Be Positive Do Something Positive Day being celebrated March 1, 2008 is a day for all of us to “BE” positive and then to “DO” something positive for another person, non-profit organization or charitable cause. The international kick-off for the day will be in Wilkes-Barre PA with the following events planned: a blood drive by The American Red Cross from noon to 5 p.m. at the Genetti’s Best Western Hotel, a children’s “positive” book reading at 11 a.m. at the Barnes&Noble Wilkes-Kings College Bookstore with Mark Hoog, and a rally at the hotel at 1 p.m. with Mark Hoog, acclaimed children’s author and motivational speaker. His website is www.growingfield.com.
Governor Edward G. Rendell of PA, Governor M. Jodi Rell of Connecticut, and Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan have all issued statewide proclamations for the day. The PA Senate has officially recognized the Be Positive Day. The Mayors of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre PA as well as the Commissioners of Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties have all issued proclamations in support of the Be Positive Day as well. The NEPA Miners Football team, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are all supporting the day and event. The Be Positive Do Something Positive Day will be celebrated in Australia this year as well.
