NEPA Miners UPDATE
The month of February is winding down and the coaches have one more coaching clinic to attend before March arrives and the player meetings will begin. Our coaches are optimistic with the influx of new talent coming in to help build on the team’s inaugural 8-4 season and take the team to the next level. The team will have to replace Left Tackle Sean Hill as he was assigned to the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pioneers camp and O-Line Coach Billy Eynon who has moved away.  So far this off season, the Miners have brought on board a new O-Line coach and Assistant Offensive Coordinator, Rick “Bubba” Wright to shore up the staff along with many bright prospects signed up to play for the team. The Miners also expect big seasons from returning veterans such as Malcolm Singleton, Damon Saxon and Jovan Garcia who have set their goals high for 2008. Wide Receiver Matt Pfancook is rehabbing a late season injury and working hard to return to action and build on a stellar rookie season.  The team is still waiting for Donnie Jackson-Bey, J.P. Antosh and their Binghamton Crew to arrive at camp and help the Miners in their quest for a national title. The Miners will be announcing its upcoming players meetings to start the chalk talk, our 2008 season schedule and more upcoming events next week. In the mean time, we expect everyone to attend our 2nd Annual Miners Night Out & Silent Auction on March 8th, check out our Ad next week in the Electric City newspaper. Players are now training for our April 12th Tryout and Combine which is mandatory for all players to attend. The Miners will start regular season practice April 15th and will start evaluating their roster. The Miners plan on carrying a 53 man roster and expect more than that at their April 12th combine. “It will be critical for everyone to be at this tryout and ready to compete. This may be our coaching staff’s most talented roster in all our years of coaching and we keep raising the standards and expectations of the players at this level of football”, stated Miners Head Coach Dan LaMagna.  There is a lot happening on and off the field and opening night is just around the corner, GO MINERS!
