The NEPA Miners and the New England Knights battled for five quarters during week two of the Regional American Football League (RAFL) schedule, only to settle for a 14-14 tie. That outcome won’t work for either team in week nine of the RAFL schedule as the North East Division is on the line as the Miners avenge their tie from their first matchup. The Knights are currently undefeated at 5-0-1 while the battle tested Miners are 4-2-1 in league play (5-2-1 overall). The Miners have one of the toughest schedules in the RAFL and are on a mission to prove how battle tested they are. The Miners are already motivated knowing the RAFL Championship game is being held November 1st at Scranton Memorial Stadium. A win this Saturday, 6PM kickoff in Connecticut would give our hometown Miners a playoff birth for the second straight season. The Miners boast a tenacious defense anchored by a front line with Malcolm Singleton and Eyad Elbattah. The Miners offense is full of weapons led by Quarterback J.P. Antosh who is approaching 2000 yards passing on the season, with Jeremy Kendrick and Montell Knauls ranking first and third in receiving in the RAFL.The RAFL postponed last weekends games due to the storm watch on the East Coast. The Miners will make up their home date to conclude the regular season on October 4th versus the Hudson County Bounty Hunters with the up and coming female R & B Group Minxx performing at half time. The Miners are currently a half a game better than last season’s record in a much more competitive league and challenging schedule. “I like our potential to bring home some trophies here in Scranton, but potential only means we haven’t done it yet,” said Coach LaMagna. The Miners will have their chance to make a statement and make a run at the Northeast Division this Saturday. Miners versus Knights round two ought to be a good one as both teams have there sights set on winning the division! GO Miners!
