PLAYOFF PREVIEW

The Regional American Football League regular season is in its final weeks before the chase for the Regional Atlantic Title begins. Only 16 of the best teams will make the playoffs, eight from each conference. The NEPA Miners and the New Jersey Wolves square off this Saturday night in Fairfield, New Jersey at 7PM. The Wolves are 6-1 while the battle tested NEPA Miners are 6-2-1 (5-2-1 RAFL) coming off of a big win versus their North East Division Rival New England Knights 19-7. That game put the Miners a half game behind the Knights for the North East Division crown. A win this weekend would clinch a playoff birth for the Miners and put them one win away from the best regular season record in their brief two year history. The Miners were led last week by their tenacious defense, strong special teams and a 100 yard rushing effort by running back Damon Saxon. The Wolves boast a defense built on speed and a balanced offensive attack as they are also coming off of a win versus a struggling 1-6 Shore Bulldogs 21-6. The Wolves are a game back of the Brooklyn Mariners for first place in the Metro West division but have already clinched their playoff spot. “I am pleased with the progress our team has made from week two to week nine. It will be up to the players to keep that same intensity game in and game out but more importantly to give the effort during the week. If we do this the sky is the limit,” stated Miners Head Coach Dan LaMagna.

The Miners two losses come from teams with a combined record of 14-1 by a combined eight points and they avenged their tie last weekend. Only time, hard work and a little luck will determine if they can win their division, earn a playoff birth and maybe a home playoff game. If they put it all together they will be playing for the league title at home on November 1st. It is a difficult road there; the coaching staff can only push them to put in the work to get there. Good Luck Miners!
