The Road to Opportunity in the RAFL

The NEPA Miners made a league switch this off season in their quest to provide Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and all of Northeastern Pennsylvania with the best brand of minor league football. The NEPA Miners have a challenging but rewarding road ahead in the Regional American Football League (RAFL). The RAFL consists of 39 teams and 9 Divisions. The Miners season will start out of conference when our hometown team travels to Pottsville to play the Schuylkill County Coal Crackers in the 2nd Annual Anthracite Classic. NEPA won the Miners Cup a year ago in a 44-14 first win in the history of the Miners franchise. The Miners will return home on July 12th for their home opener at Scranton Memorial Stadium versus the Hudson Valley Cowboys. The Cowboys (who do look like the Dallas Cowboys) are part of the RAFL North East Division which will consist of the Cowboys, the New England Knights, the expansion Connecticut Bearcats and our hometown NEPA Miners who were voted Best New Team on the East Coast by Minor League Football News last season. The Miners will play each team in its division twice and crossover games versus the Brooklyn Mariners, New Jersey Warriors, Empire State Titans and New York Predators to make up its 10 game regular season schedule. Over 44 seasons, the Mariners have won 457 games, losing 85, and tying 12. No team in the minor league football ranks has a better winning record in the country then the Brooklyn Mariners and their Hall of Fame Coach Pudgie Walsh. The Predators and Warriors won their respective divisions and the Predators only losses were to RAFL National Champion Prince William Monarchs who went undefeated. The Miners will certainly be battle tested and welcome the opportunity to play in the post season and offer North Eastern Pennsylvania minor league sports fans the national title it deserves. The post season schedule would consist of playing the best of eight to go to the RAFL championship game on October 25th, a title game versus the Premier Football League champion on November 2nd, a title game versus the West Coast Champion on November 9th and then the opportunity to be the Minor League Champion in the 1st ever World Alliance Bowl on November 16th versus the Spring League Champion. Only time will tell the Miners fate, but for now the team is working hard in camp to give them the best opportunity to win on Saturday night starting June 28th. WIN MINERS WIN! Season Tickets are now available at the Miners online store.
