The NEPA Miners have sent their share of players to college, and arena football teams throughout their six seasons. But for the first time they can proudly say an NEPA Miner is in the National Football League (NFL). Miners Kicker and Punter Ken Parrish signed today with the Jacksonville Jaguars after impressing the club in this past week’s mandatory mini-camp on a tryout basis. Ken, an East Stroudsburg University graduate has been in camps previously with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons.

Parrish was perfect on four field goals last season for the Miners including a long of 44 while converting eight extra points. Ken punted four times for 177 yards averaging 44 yards per punt. Ken had some NFL tryouts last season and helped the Miners while staying in game shape waiting for his next opportunity. Ken would cap off last season in the league All-Star game with a 58 yard  field goal. Miners Founder Dan LaMagna had this to say, “On behalf of the entire Miners organization we are proud to say Ken was a Miner for one season as he helped elevate our special teams, was a mentor to our younger players and replicas rolex most of all was a high character individual. There is not one individual in our locker room that hasn't had or still has that dream to play in the NFL. We wish Ken the best of luck in Jacksonville and will hopefully have him visit us soon before he is back in camp.” The Miners kickoff their 2013 season this Saturday 7PM at Scranton Memorial Stadium and who knows Miners fans, you may be watching your next NFL player to come out of North East PA!
